1.Finance

FIN 536 : International Finance

Prerequisites:

finance major.

Description:

International financial environment and corporate financial management. Topics include balance of payment, foreign exchange markets, international parity conditions, foreign exchange risk management and international financial markets. (Plus-minus letter grade only.)

FIN 355 : Investments

Prerequisites:

finance majors.

Description:

Sources of investor information. Classes of investments, movement of security prices; analysis and interpretation of financial statements. The role of Wall Street; adapting investment policy to investor needs and purposes.

Public Relations

Prerequisites:

Priority enrollment for marketing majors and minors.

Description:

Communication, attitudes, opinion, ethical conduct, and responsible social performance as foundations of effective public relations. Relevant current events and public relations programs. Models for analysis and practice. Philosophical, historical, and environmental influences.

Internet Marketing

Prerequisites:

Priority enrollment for marketing majors and minors.

Description:

Overview of the changes in marketing resulting from the move to the Internet by nonprofits, businesses, and government. Effective interactive marketing practices for consumer firms and business-to-business firms. Web site presentation, exploration, analysis and assessment.

3.Hospitality and Tourism Management

Asian Food, Culture, and Hospitality

Description:

Asian cultures and food preferences as they relate to eating habits; the influences of social, economic, and religious factors; Asian foods as herbs and medicinal uses; etiquette and cultural aspects of dining preferences for pleasurable eating.

Food, Wine, and Culture in California

Description:

Cultural and historical heritage of the food and wine industries in California, ethnic preferences for food and wine as they relate to immigration patterns, and cultural aspects of dining preferences for pleasurable eating in California. [GE]

International Environmental Analysis

Prerequisites:

ENG 214; IBUS 330 with C- or better or consent of instructor.

Description:

Factors affecting the conduct of contemporary business transactions in a number of specific global environments. (Plus-minus letter grade only.)

Upper division standing; FIN 350 with grade of C- or better; finance major.

Description:

Introduction to Financial Accounting

Description:

Objectives, basic theory, principles, and methods of financial accounting. Reports as a framework for decision-making. Measuring and reporting financial position regarding income, costs, and revenue.

Legal Aspects of Business Transactions

Description:

Rights and obligations arising out of common business transactions such as contracts, agency, employment, business organizations, and negotiable instruments. Consideration of the law related to investors, including securities law and the professional and legal responsibilities of accountants.

1.Electronic Media

The Age of Information

Prerequisites:

Upper division standing.

Description:

Age of information explores the historical, social, political, and personal implications of modern communication technology. Understanding how it contributes to change in our society. [GE]

Close Up on Electronic Media: Women Warriors

Prerequisites:

Upper division standing or consent of instructor.

Description:

Explores the evolution of the role of women action heroes on electronic media such as television, the internet, and video games. Only 3-units of BECA 395 may count for credit in BECA major. CR/NC grade only.

Anthropology and Film

Focus on Emerging Cinemas

Prerequisites:

Upper division standing or consent of instructor.

Description:

Identifies, trends and directions, artists and issues in newly emerging cinemas. Normally offered in conjunction with the San Francisco International Film Festival. CR/NC grading only. [GE]

Studio experiences with dry and wet materials. Basic linear, tonal and columetric indication, perspective, composition, abstraction with other basic techniques and processes. Laboratory. Extra fee required.
